About Mikel

Mikel William Danielson was born in 1990 to Bill and Carol Danielson with a rare genetic disorder that prevented his ability to walk or talk. Despite his reduced abilities, Mikel imparted on his parents, siblings, and those around him a joy and humility that changed their lives for the better. Mikel loved music, clapping, exploring the world in his wheelchair, and being surrounded by familiar faces. 

In 1997, his family started The Mikel Foundation, which has raised nearly a million dollars since its inception. 

Mikel passed away on October 27, 2019 at the age of 28. Mikel has forever changed the lives of his family and those that knew him, and through The Mikel Foundation, his life will continue to make a difference to other families.
